Following early careers in New York, Seoul and Antwerp, BC born Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond, founded Out Innerspace (OIS) on unceded Coast Salish land in 2007. Dedicating 20 years to creating extraordinary dance experiences through uncompromising rigour and ingenuity, Out Innerspace reflects a world and time of rapid transformation, of ever-changing boundaries and horizons, of desire to understand and relate. OIS is an Associate Artists of Agora de la Danse and was recently awarded the National Arts Centre's National Creation Fund and the CanDance Creation Fund. Their internationally touring commissions include works for Goteborgs Operans Danskompani, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, Ballet BC, Netherlands Dance Theatre 2, Hessisches Staatsballett (Germany), and Gibney Dance (New York). The company has been presented in over 15 countries including TRAFO (Budapest), Torino Danza, Colours Festival (Stuttgart), Teatros del Canal (Madrid), Dansens Hus (Stockholm), and Birmingham International Dance Festival, among others. Their education program Modus Operandi offers relevant dance development and individualized mentorship generating some of Canada’s most radical and inspired young dance artists. Their space, Q7 studios, supports hundreds of diverse dance practitioners through a variety of programming including over 1000 hours annually of free residency space. The scope of outreach, education, creation and presentations make OIS essential to the development of dance in Canada and the international appreciation of Canadian dance.
